Chicken Biriyani Recipe using pressure cooker| Home style Chicken Biriyani

When I hear the word “Chicken Biriyani” my heart skips a beat, such is my love towards it and there are millions out there like me. Chicken biriyani is one of the most famous foods in India and across many parts of the world. There are different varieties of Biriyani, here we are going to see the simple home style chicken biriyani with step by step detailed photo recipe.

Servings: 2

Ingredients (1 cup = 240 ml)

3 tbsp oil

1 inch cinnamon stick

2 star anise

3 cardamom pods

1 bay leaf

4 cloves

1 onion, big sliced

1.5 tbsp ginger garlic paste

1 tomato, chopped

3 green chillis, slit

Few mint leaves, chopped

Few coriander leaves, chopped

¼ tsp turmeric powder

1 tsp red chilli powder

½ cup curd

1 tsp garam masala

½ kg chicken

1.5 cup basmati rice (1 cup =240 ml)

Salt to taste

2 cups of water

 

Preparation

  • Firstly, wash and soak basmati rice for 30 minutes
  • Heat the cooker; add oil, all the spices and saute for few seconds
  • Now add sliced onion and fry till it turns golden brown
  • Add ginger garlic paste and saute until raw smell goes off
  • Then add green chilli, mint leaves and sauté for few seconds
  • Add tomato and saute till it turns soft
  • Add chilli powder, turmeric powder, garam masala powder and fry till the raw smell goes off
  • Then add curd, mix well and cook for 5 minutes
  • Add chicken, coriander leaves and little salt for chicken, mix well and cook for 10 minutes
  • Add soaked basmati rice, 2 cups of water, salt for rice(already we added some salt for chicken, so please be careful while adding salt)
  • Add some mint leaves and coriander leaves, mix gently.
  • Allow it to cook for 5 minutes on low flame, now we can see the water level decreases to the rice level and make sure that the flame is low while doing this.
  • Now heat a tawa. Once it starts heating, place the cooker on the tawa with lid closed.
  • Cook this for 10 minutes on medium flame.
  • After 10 minutes, open the pressure cooker and mix the rice very gently
  • Again close the lid and cook for 7 minutes in medium flame on tawa
  • Then open the lid and fluff rice with fork.

Chicken Biriyani is ready!! Serve with raita.

  9. Add soaked basmati rice, 2 cups of water, salt to taste(already we added some salt for chicken, so please be careful while adding salt).mix
  10. Add some mint leaves and coriander leaves, mix gently.
  11. Allow it to cook for 5 minutes on low flame, now we can see the water level decreases to the rice level and make sure that the flame is low while doing this. Otherwise the water will decreases below the rice level.water level decreases

  13. Now heat a tawa. Once it starts heating, place the cooker on the tawa with lid closed and cook for 10 minutes in medium flame. place cooker
  14. After 10 minutes, open the pressure cooker and mix the rice very gentlymix gently
  15. Again close the lid and cook for 7 minutes in medium flame on tawacook 10 mins
