Murukku

Murukku is a favorite south Indian snack. Kids would love it. Lets see how to prepare it easily at home.

Ingredients: (1cup= 240 ml)

1.5 cups rice flour

¼ cup roasted gram dal (grind fine powder)

½ tsp chilli powder

½ tsp cumin seeds/ ajwain

Pinch hing

Salt to taste

1 tsp oil or butter

Water as required

 

Preparation:

  • Take a mixing bowl , add rice flour, roasted gram dal powder, chilli powder, pinch hing and add salt to taste
  • Finally add 1 tsp oil and mix everything well
  • Add water little by little and make a smooth dough. Do not knead the dough

 

Steps to make murukku:

  • Spread oil inside the muruku machine and place the desired disc to shape murukku
  • Meanwhile heat the oil
  • Take a portion of the murukku dough and place it inside the murukku make where we have already spread the oil
  • Take two ladle and shape the murukku on top of it
  • Now drop the murukku in hot oil, fry in medium flame
  • Once murukku turns golden brown take out the murruku with paper towel to drain out the excess oil
  • Once cooled, store murruku in air tight container and have it for tea time snack

 

Note:

  • In case the murruku breaks in the oil then sprinkle little water to the dough and mix the dough again
  • If the murruku is to hard then add one more tsp of oil or butter
