Vazhakkai Fry Recipe | Raw Banana Fry Recipe

Raw bananas are abundant in tropical regions of Indian subcontinent. There are several types of recipes using Raw Banana; we are going to look into south Indian style Raw Banana fry. This goes well as side dish with Sambhar/Dal rice, Rasam rice, variety rice or Curd rice. Now let’s get into the preparation,

 

Ingredients (1cup = 240ml)

2 raw bananas

2 tbsp oil

½ tsp mustard seeds

½ tsp urad dal

Few curry leaves

¼ tsp turmeric powder

1 tsp chilli powder

1 tsp coriander powder

Salt to taste

 

Preparation:

  • Firstly, peel the banana and cut slightly thick. Put them in water and keep aside
  • Heat a pan, add 2 tbsp oil and mustard, add urad dal and allow them to splutter
  • Add the bananas then add few curry leaves and sauté for a minute
  • Add turmeric, chilli powder, coriander powder, salt and mix it well
  • Cook 7 minutes in medium flame with lid closed. Make sure that you stir in between
  • Finally, for crispiness fry two more minutes in high flame                                                                        Vazhakkai fry is ready now!!
