Quick and Easy Veg Biriyani in Cooker | How to make Veg Biriyani

veg biriyani is one of the tastiest recipe. Most of the people love this because of the richness of ghee, flavor of aromatic spices and long grain rice. You can also add your choice of vegetables and serve this along with onion or cucumber raita. It is the best for lunch box and also for any special occasion. Here we are going to see how to make simple and tasty veg biriyani in pressure cooker.

 

Ingredients

1 tbsp oil

1 tbsp ghee

1 inch cinnamon stick

1 star anise

2 cardamom pods/elachi

1 bay leaf

1 onion, sliced

1 tsp ginger garlic

1 tomato, chopped

2 green chillis slit

2 tbsp mint leaves, chopped

1 small potato, chopped

1 medium size carrot, chopped

10 beans, chopped

½ cup cauliflower

¼ tsp turmeric powder

1 tsp red chilli powder

1/3 cup green peas

½ cup curd

1 tsp garam masala

2 tbsp coriander leaves

1 cup basmati rice (1 cup =240 ml)

Salt to taste

 

Preparation

  • Firstly wash and soak basmati rice for 30 minutes
  • Heat the cooker and add 1 tbsp oil and 1 tbsp ghee, then add all the spices and saute for few seconds
  • Now add sliced onion and saute until it turns golden brown
  • Add ginger garlic paste and saute until raw smell goes off
  • Then add tomato, green chilli and saute till it turns soft
  • Furthermore add mint leaves and all the chopped vegetables and saute for one minute
  • Add in turmeric powder ¼ tsp, chilli powder 1tsp, garam masala powder1tsp and saute till the raw smell goes off
  • Add green peas and mix well
  • Then add curd, salt and mix well and cook for 5 minutes
  • Add coriander leaves and mix well
  • Add soaked basmati rice and mix gently to combine well with the masala
  • now add 2 cups of water and check for the salt
  • when it starts to boil, close the lid and leave for 1 whistle in medium flame
  • Once steam sets off completely, open the lid and fluff rice

Veg biriyani is ready to serve with raita!!

10.when it starts to boil, close the lid and leave for 1 whistle in medium flame
